
Johnson Consulting and ComAxis Technology announced release of UniAccess 1.4. UniAccess can migrate users from messaging systems such as Lotus cc:Mail, Microsoft Exchange, Novell Groupwise and Lotus Notes to each other or more than eight other messaging formats, including IMAP4 Servers. UniAccess can migrate from any of these systems: Exchange, Outlook, Notes, Netscape, Eudora, Pegasus, MHS, ExpressIT, GroupWise, cc:Mail (archives and folders), DaVinci e-Mail, Notework, and CompuServe.

Extended Systems announced that the company’s XTNDConnect applications for Bluetooth wireless technology will be licensed by Intel Corporation. Features include file transfer and synchronization between Microsoft Outlook and Palm or Windows CE devices with upgrades available to add functionality. End-users will also be able to upgrade XTNDConnect PC to provide synchronization support for additional mobile devices with personal information managers such as Lotus Notes.

Lotus Development announced that global law firm Shaw Pittman has deployed Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5 (R5) messaging and collaboration software and has imminent plans to deploy Lotus Sametime across its entire organization.

IBM announced its contribution of a technology to the Apache Software Foundation, which will help developers create applications for e-business services using a vendor-neutral, open process. IBM is contributing its Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) technology, built in Java, to the Apache’s open source XML (Extensible Markup Language) project.

Phone.com announced the immediate availability of FoneSync Essentials. FoneSync Essentials supports full two-way synchronization between desktop personal information managers (PIMs) such as Microsoft Outlook, ACT!, Lotus Notes, Lotus Organizer and Goldmine.

Latitude Communications and Lotus Development announced a seamless integration between Latitude’s MeetingPlace e-conferencing solution and Lotus’ Sametime on-line meeting capabilities. Developed by Lotus as part of a strategic agreement formed with Latitude in September 1999, the integration with MeetingPlace extends the capabilities of Lotus Sametime — enabling users who have chosen a MeetingPlace solution to simultaneously schedule Sametime online data conferencing meetings and MeetingPlace voice conferencing via a single meeting form.
