Here’s a story from InfoWorld on IBM’s plans to announce an Internet business-to-business exchange for the telecommunications and electronics industries that will use IBM technology and draw in several major partners. The article says that the exchange will be named e2open.com. Partners are reported to be Nortel Networks, Motorola, Nokia, Philips, South Korea’s LG Electronics, Japan’s Hitachi.

ZDNet reports that the W3C has accepted a specification for VoiceXML 1.0. VoiceXML 1.0 is based on research and development at AT&T, IBM, Lucent Technologies and Motorola.

Rhizomatics annouced the release of the Domino Banner Ad system, version 2, a Notes based solution for banner ad rotation, management and statistics. Version 2 incorporates a full alternate set of Restricted LotusScript agents for operation on commercial Domino-hosted sites, detailed control over HTTP cache settings, and a new security model.

IBM alphaWorks has posted two new Java tools in XML messaging and intelligent software for developer feedback — SOAP for Java Q and ABLE — as part of IBM’s ongoing efforts to promote open standards on the Internet.

Command Software Systems announced the launch of Command AntiVirus for Lotus Notes. Protection includes: on-access scanning of mail and attachments; on access, scheduled and on-demand scanning of databases; and real-time database replication scanning.

VeriSign, Inc. a provider of Internet trust services, announced that U.S. Bancorp, Inc., a purchasing cards provider, will integrate VeriSign’s Go Secure! for Lotus Notes R5 solution. They claim its messaging platform should enable secure business-to-business and internal electronic communications.

Motorola, Inc., along with Starfish Software, a wireless Internet solutions supplier, announced the availability of Starfish’s TrueSync technology for the new Motorola ACCOMPLI A6188 phone. TrueSync allows users to create their ideal solution with many devices, desktop PIMs, or web based calendars including Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Organizer, Lotus Notes, Windows CE devices, and Palm-based devices.

Information Week has this article on IBM’s new AS/400 servers driven by PowerPC microprocessors. The article says that AS/400e Dedicated Servers for Domino, designed for running multiple Domino applications partitioned on the same server, are available on the new 270 and 820 AS/400e models, priced starting at $6,000 and $12,000, respectively.
