Army gets paperless solution

Lotus is running a series of stories on the accomplishments of the Lotusphere 2000 Beacon Awards winners. This story looks at the Best eBusiness Solution–Supplier Relationship Management winner, Data Systems Analysts, Inc. The company has used Notes and Domino to give the United States Army a paperless means of selecting and negotiating with vendors for large acquisitions.

AS/400 most scalable

IBM seeks wireless market

CNET News reports traditional software companies are attempting different methods to attach themselves to the emerging wireless market. The article examines the varying strategies being employed by Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, and Sybase. IBM, it says, is focusing on both carriers and corporations with its software and services, having made deals with Internet services companies such as Razorfish and Agency.com. These companies will sell IBM’s tools for developing and managing content on wireless devices.

Lotus teams with Terra Networks

In a press release, Terra Networks and Lotus announced a strategic relationship for Internet projects and initiatives. The first step will be Terra Networks’ creation of a global instant messaging service called InstanTerra. In the second step, the Terra Networks Web site will provide content via the Lotus Notes Welcome Page for the Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets.

Super.move should draw Exchange users

eWEEK has a story on Lotus’ attempts to coax Microsoft Exchange users over to Notes and Domino by providing three new Acceleration Packs as part of its Super.move migration program. The packs include a Domino mail server license and 25 Notes licenses as well as a variety of technical support and training resources. These tools should ease the transition, and by having Domino and Notes integrate more closely with Exchange and Office, Lotus hopes to attract more customers.
