Ives bikes the world

Lotus has an article on Stephen Ives, founder of Ives Development, who has completed the first continental leg of a worldwide bicycle tour in support of UNICEF. The story reports that Steve and the Ives’ TeamStudio Challenge tour–of which Lotus is lead sponsor–had raised more than $114,000 for UNICEF.

Lotus Notes and Domino solutions provider, InterNoded Inc., announced it’s working in collaboration with E-Volution to host the informational and awareness site Aids2000.com. This is the offical site for the XIII International AIDS Conference held in Durban, South Africa from July 9-14. It acts as a resource for all conference information, with details of conference agendas, events, and exhibits as well as press releases and findings on AIDS research.

Mobile Notes Getting Started

ZDNet reports that Lotus has announced the impending release of the Mobile Notes Getting Started pack. It will include the latest release of Mobile Notes Access and Mobile Services for Domino 1.1 server, as well as 100 user licenses. The starter pack should allow Notes users to access email, calendars, and corporate directories from any Web-enabled cell phone.

Many, the article reports, believe Zollar is planning products and business strategies that will more fully merge IBM and Lotus based on recent product announcements that will leverage the expertise of the two organizations.

AS/400e sets record

the400resource.com reports that IBM announced its AS/400e Model 840 server has set a new world record for Lotus Domino scalability and performance by handling 75,000 concurrent NotesBench R5 Mail Users with an average response time of 276 milliseconds. This is, according to the article, ten times as many concurrent users as the largest audited enterprise server offering from Sun Microsystems and more than five times as many concurrent users as the largest audited offering from Compaq.

ZixMail provides email security

SearchDomino has an article on ZixMail.com, a company hoping to provide email security and digital signature solutions through outsourcing. According to the article, ZixMail provides users with a way to send time-stamped, tamper-free messages that can only be read by the intended recipient or recipients. The message is encrypted using a private key or signature phrase.

IT FACTORY appoints Halvorsen

IT FACTORY Inc. announced the appointment of Tim Halvorsen to its advisory board. Halvorsen is currently Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Iris Associates, a subsidiary of Lotus Development Corp. In his new role with IT FACTORY, Halvorsen will be directly involved in formulating IT FACTORY’s technology strategy and advising on the company’s Application Service Provider market strategy.
