
Seagull announced support for connecting Web-enabled wireless devices to business applications running on mainframe and AS/400 platforms. The devices, including mobile telephones and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) can connect to the Internet using Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), rapidly emerging as a world standard for wireless Web access.

SiteScape announced that it received an apology from Lotus Development Corporation in response to its letter demanding it cease and desist claiming that it offers "the only collaborative application server for Linux". In addition, Lotus agreed to immediately remove all such verbiage from its website and any other promotional materials.

SiteScape has sent Lotus Development Corporation a letter demanding they cease and desist claiming that Lotus Domino is "the only collaborative application server for Linux" in all advertising on its Web site and in any other promotional material. This action was taken after repeated calls to Lotus marketing officials requesting they remove the qualifier "only" from the statement were ignored.

Windows 2000 is ready to go. According to this report from ZDNet, even though work on the massive project is complete, Windows 2000 won’t actually be available to users until Feb. 17

This article from InternetWeek says that Lotus will show off Raven, the new knowledge management platform, at next month’s Lotusphere. The article says that Lotus also has plans for added XML support in the Domino server and support for Notes applications on handheld devices.

PC World has a preview of Lotus Raven. Raven is a suite of server applications, running on Lotus Domino and IBM DB2 servers. Raven is due to come out next year.

BuyerZone.com announced that five software providers, Executive Software, Lotus, McAfee.com, Novell and Symantec, will make their offerings available to businesses through BuyerZone.com.

IBM and Binary Tree announced one in a series of e-business solutions for IBM’s AS/400e Dedicated Server for Domino. The solution, DSD Merchant, combines hardware, software and services designed to give customers a more reliable and affordable alternative to Windows-NT based servers Binary Tree’s ezMerchant Enterprise Edition 2.0, part of the DSD Merchant package, allows businesses to bring their merchandise and services to the Web.
