EContent Magazine reports that IBM introduced new software designed to help medium sized organizations implement a digital content management infrastructure. IBM’s DB2 Content Manager Express can be installed with one click and incorporates self-managing capabilities designed to help customers simplify and automate many of the tasks required to manage a content management environment. DB2 Content Manager now offers tighter integration features with IBM’s software portfolio including WebSphere Business Integrator and Lotus Workplace Web Content Management.

LogicLibrary releases asset discovery engine

LogicLibrary has released what it calls the first asset discovery engine for developers using the Microsoft .NET framework to consolidate and integrate applications. In many enterprises that are conducing pilot tests of Web services for conducting business transactions in a Web environment automatically, the state of the art for handling the data being transferred are spreadsheets programs such as Excel or Lotus Notes.

IBM’s Triangle facilities poised for growth

MSNBC reports that IBM’s Triangle facilities are poised for rapid expansion. A company executive says the Triangle will snag a generous portion of the company’s projected 10,000 new jobs in 2004. Six units comprise 90 percent of IBM’s RTP operation: Software, Global Services, Sales and Distribution, Integrated Supply Chain, Personal Computers and Systems. The Software unit, which includes WebSphere and Tivoli, both of which have large RTP operations, grew by 8.5 percent, to $10.06 billion, compared to $9.27 billion.

Tumbleweed MMS released

Tumbleweed Communications announced the release of Tumbleweed MMS 5.6. The company says that this new release offers enterprises new anti-spam management features providing improved visibility and feedback of spam-blocking efforts, and additional protection against email fraud and phishing scams via digital signing of email messages. Tumbleweed MMS works with corporate email servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Novell Groupwise and a variety of UNIX-based email servers.

QUALCOMM announced a team of industry-leading enterprise vendors that will demonstrate their enterprise solutions running wirelessly over a high-speed, third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1xEV-DO at CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment 2003. IBM is demonstrating collaboration and messaging applications from the WebSphere software and Lotus Software product families including IBM WebSphere Everyplace Connection Manager and IBM Lotus Instant Messaging and Web Conferencing.
