Stampede Technologies announced the availability of its latest innovation in client technology, Acceleration On-Demand. Acceleration On-Demand is the industry’s first solution that enables enterprises to fully leverage bi-directional acceleration without the need to install hardware or software at remote locations. The Stampede Application Acceleration Series offers acceleration and WAN optimization for traditional HTTP/HTTPS, legacy TCP and emerging Web 2.0/AJAX applications. In addition, Stampede’s solutions offer application front-end services for Firewalling, Load Balancing and server off-loading of TCP connection management and SSL processing.

C-Search Limited announced the release of version 2.0 of its search engine for Domino. The release of R2.0 C-Search now offers customers the choice between a distributed and centralized crawl modes. Distributing the crawler allows indexing responsibilities to be shared across multiple servers whereas the more traditional centralized crawler allows one instance of C-Search to crawl and index any database on any server in the Domino domain. In November, Adobe Systems will release Acrobat 8, an updated version of its PDF software that adds Web conferencing services gained from its acquisition of Macromedia. The company on Monday detailed its refreshed Acrobat line and pricing. In tandem with the product upgrade, Adobe will launch a hosted service called Acrobat Connect, which will allow individuals to click on a button in a PDF file to start a Web conference.

Google has acknowledged the presence of a phishing hole on its Public Service Search application and has blocked access to the service until the problem is fixed. The problem went public when blogger Eric Farraro posted details on Thursday on his software development blog. Farraro said that the customizable code in Google’s Public Service Search, which enables nonprofit institutions like universities to install ad-free Google search functions on their Web sites at no cost, could be used to create a page hosted on the google.com domain.
