Web development firm and Ruby on Rails specialist Atlantic Dominion Solutions (ADS) has partnered to Morph Labs, maker of an elastic deployment and management platform for Ruby on Rails applications deployed onto the Amazon Web Services EC2 infrastructure. The addition of the Morph Application Platform enables ADS to offer clients a faster, easier, and less expensive way to deploy their Rails apps onto EC2 without management overhead.

By eliminating the need for custom configuration, the Morph Application Platform allows users to deploy a Rails app in less than 10 minutes. Once the app is up and running on EC2, the Morph platform allows it to be scaled up or down with a single click.

BitWise Controls introduces the BC4 which allows IP-based software and control systems to control and monitor virtually any hardware device available today. It is the only PoE (Power-over-Ethernet)-capable product of its type on the market, eliminating the need to install a power supply at each BC4 location.

Global System Services Corporation (GSS) has announced the GSS Migration Toolkit for Sun Java Communications Suite. The toolkit enables customers to move from IBM Lotus Notes and Domino to Web 2.0 and SaaS. Service providers building Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings using Sun Java Communications Suite can now migrate business customers from Notes and Domino to hosted applications.

San Francisco City Council regained access to its computer network after Mayor Gavin Newsom convinced network administrator Terry Childs to give them the passwords.

Childs is in jail, accused of blocking all access to the city’s network by resetting passwords. He initially refused to cough up the new password. But on Monday afternoon Newsom visited him in jail and persuaded him to hand over the necessary passwords.
