
BMC Software will release a new management and performance tool for Domino called the Domino Management Suite. This product will include a new release of Patrol, the Beacon-award winning best tool for Domino management combined with the Best/1 tool for performance analysis and capacity planning. The combined Patrol Knowledge Module for Domino and the Best/1 Visualizer for Domino product will be shown at Lotusphere 99.

Isocor Corp.’s Metaconnect directory software ties directory data together and delivers a unified naming convention for tracking down users. It costs $5 per user for a network consisting of a database and Exchange from Microsoft. With multiple directories and databases, the price tag per user goes up to $25.

Casahl Technology, Inc. announced a series of free seminars on database integration for Information Technology professionals. The seminars are designed to familiarize attendees with Casahl’s Replic-Action. Replic-Action Seminars, which are being offered February through March 1999, will give IT professionals practical database integration experience in a demonstration and hands-on environment, and will include informational materials plus Replic-Action software good for 30-day evaluation.

ExecuTrain Corp. announced a new on-line technical training tool designed to assess skill level and measure software knowledge for students seeking Microsoft, Novell, Lotus and A+ certifications. The Validate! Technical Skills Assessment titles are bundled with ExecuTrain’s technical instructor-led courses. Vendor certification titles are now available for Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD), as well as Certified Novell Engineer (CNE), Lotus and A+ certification paths.

DataMirror Corp. announced the extension of an introductory pricing offer on its High Availability Suite. Due to the popularity of the promotion, DataMirror will continue to offer a 25 percent discount on its High Availability Suite for customers purchasing the package prior to Feb. 1, 1999. Customers taking advantage of the promotion must install High Availability Suite prior to April 1, 1999.

The View Technical Journal for Lotus Notes and Domino introduced the 1999 Advanced Domino Development seminar. The two day seminar will be held in several cities, including New York and London.

Bell Atlantic plans to announce next week it has teamed up with Lotus Development. Interactive Week reports this will give the Bell Atlantic’s data-networking unit the benefit of Lotus’ Domino server technology, plus business-collaboration products created for the platform by Lotus partners and the marketing punch of both Lotus and its developers.

Beta Systems Software AG acquired Harbor Systems Management, Ltd. Harbor solutions integrate the UNIX and NT processing platforms with the OS/390 host as well as operating on a stand-alone basis. The centerpiece of Harbor’s product line, Harbor Network Storage Manager (NSM), is a multi-tier, multi-platform enterprise backup system. Such systems meet an urgent market need for storing data from distributed applications such as SAP R/3, Lotus Notes, Oracle and Microsoft Exchange.

Version 2.0 of the Web Calendar Pop-Up Control builds upon the previous version by adding new features and functionality. In this release, the Web Calendar Pop-Up Control provides developers with the ability to have a corporate holiday listing, to display personal vacation days, to prevent selection of days in the future and the ability to prevent selection of days in the past.
