Institute for KM

Lotus Development and IBM announced formation of the Institute for Knowledge Management (IKM), a commercial research consortium composed of executives from member corporations who, with Knowledge Management experts from Lotus, IBM and leading academic institutions, will conduct applied research on the creation and deployment of successful Knowledge Management solutions. The first IKM seminar, which is open to those interested in potential membership, will be held January 28-29 at the IBM Executive Conference Center in Palisades, NY. The seminar is designed to introduce attendees to IKM programs and research strategies.

Bellcore wires to Notes

Bellcore’s AirBoss Wireless Solutions will offer users end-to-end secure access to Lotus Domino via an AirBoss/Microbrowser-enabled two-way pager. Now, users of the RIM Inter@ctive Pager 950 and the BellSouth Intelligent Wireless Network will have real-time wireless access to Lotus Notes Mail, Directory, Calendar and other critical business data applications. For the first time, a pager solution provides complete end-to-end security through the use of SSL (Secure Socket Layer) and ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) technology. Commercial availability is scheduled for the second quarter of 1999.

AnyDay.com, Inc. announced it has been selected to launch its free online calendar, scheduling and event service at Demo ’99 conference next month. Our crew in Orlando just informed us that Lotus made two very interesting announcements at this morning’s General Session. The first announcement was that Lotus plans on shipping a Linux server in 1999. The second announcement was that Lotus teamed up with America Online. Lotus releases R5

At Lotusphere99, Lotus Development Corp. today launched Release 5 (R5) of Notes, Domino and Domino Designer. Lotus president and CEO Jeff Papows kicked off the annual Lotusphere customer and Business Partner technical conference by calling for business people to create and take advantage of "super-human" solutions that create competitive advantages for today’s companies and enhance the personal productivity of those who depend on them.

Lotus, AOL press release

Lotus Development Corp. and America Online, Inc. today announced plans to deliver a co-branded suite of offerings to users of Lotus Notes R5 and Lotus Sametime, including AOL’s popular Web services. This partnership will provide Lotus business users with AOL’s Web searching capability and AOL’s customized news service. Additionally, Lotus Sametime Connect users will be able to interoperate with AOL’s Instant Messenger feature.
