Available nationwide from Sprint, the PCS Vision Smart Device Treo 600 by Handspring sports a new candy bar design, full-color screen, Palm 5.2.1HS Operating System, a backlit QWERTY keyboard with dome-shaped keys, a 144MHz ARM 9 processor, a VGA quality camera and a PCS Phone. Sprint also makes available its PCS Business Connection, which is compatible with Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Dominos servers.

Citrix iForum — WholeSecurity announced that Comerica has selected WholeSecurity’s Confidence Online to ensure that employees have secure remote access to financial applications and information without the fear of remote control threats. To enable employees to access sensitive information and critical applications like Lotus Notes, Comerica will use Citrix MetaFrame XPe Presentation Server with its secure gateway feature.

MessageOne releases Emergency Messaging Systems 3.0

MessageOne has announced the launch of version 3.0 of its Linux-based Emergency Messaging Systems (EMS) with new enhancements that include: built-in emergency employee notification capabilities, guaranteed RIM BlackBerry and other wireless device forwarding support, and service for Lotus Notes – complementing the existing service for Microsoft Exchange.

Microsoft teams with Vodafone

Microsoft and Vodafone announced today at ITU World Telecom in Geneva they’ll work together to develop and promote XML-based mobile Web standards. The Feature reports that the two companies have worked together before — in September 2000 they said they’d work together to deliver mobile access to Outlook, which appeared to culminate with the June 2001 release of Vodafone OfficeLive, which used Microsoft’s Mobile Information Server in conjuction with Exchange, though it also worked with Lotus Notes systems.

Champion acquires Commerce Inn

Champion Solutions Group said it has acquired Commerce Inn, giving one of IBM’s largest storage solution providers visibility in application integration services. According to CRN, Champion picks up Commerce Inn’s full-service Lotus/Domino, WebSphere, and DB2 practice. Champion did not release terms of the deal.

Sigaba introduced secure email software

Internet Week reports that Sigaba introduced secure email software designed to provide authentication, integrating with major authentication mechanisms and email technologies. Sigaba Secure E-mail version 4.0 includes support for "federated" authentication, allowing enterprises to share information about user authentication. The technology supports the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), an OASIS standard for federation. The technology works with email software including Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, Yahoo!Mail, Hotmail, AOL, and Eudora.
