
<p>AWS pushes AppStream live as cloud providers race to consolidate around niche cloud services</p><p>Public cloud giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the general release of AppStream, an application infrastructure built on top of the company's recently released G2 instances that enables high-fidelity applications on low-end devices. The service goes live as cloud service providers target niche cloud services where the next race in the cloud game is set to take place.</p><p>In November last year AWS announced a limited preview of AppStream, a service specifically built for developers that need to build high-fidelity, graphically rich applications to run on premium and lower-spec hardware alike.</p><p>The service enables lower end mobile devices to take advantage of AWS's raw compute and storage power needed to run more complex apps, and runs on the company's newly announced G2 instances (which means it's only available in the US for now).
