<p>The Content Management Interoperability standard, known as CMIS, has been around since 2009, but a recent report--authored by Cheryl McKinnon at Forrester Research--found that adoption was surprisingly low and that the majority of those surveyed were still using a single ECM suite approach.</p><p>That said, McKinnon found that those who were committed to CMIS were using it in interesting ways. "Early adoption was not very big," she told me, "But the real world use cases are mature and rather sophisticated."</p><p>It's worth noting that this was a small sample at 179 respondents, so take it as you will, but the way the numbers break down certainly is interesting.</p><p>As for the numbers, 36 percent of respondents said they were using a single ECM suite. 30 percent were using SharePoint in combination with another enterprise content management system and as for CMIS, 13 percent reported allowing multiple ECM solutions integrated with interoperability standards, presumably CMIS.</p><p><a href="http://www.fiercecontentmanagement.com/story/forrester-report-finds-cmis-adoption-slow-steady-standard-matures/2014-03-04">Keep reading...</a></p>
