<p>Organizations that use the latest release of Notes and Domino can now get a complimentary copy of the Sametime instant messaging software, IBM announced last week.</p><p>As part of the IBM Sametime Limited Use Entitlement for Notes and Domino version 9.0.1, Notes and Domino users can get access to the chat and presence awareness capabilities delivered with the full copy of Sametime. Customers don't get access to all of Sametime's capabilities, which also include voice over IP (VoIP) telephony and audio and video conferencing software.</p><p>The complimentary copy of Sametime announced last week works across Notes clients, including the full Notes desktop client and the iNotes Web client. Alternatively, the Notes customers can use the Sametime Connect client for chat-related activities, or they can get the functionality in Microsoft Outlook via a plug-in. The entitlement also lets customers build Sametime capabiities into custom-built Notes and Domino apps through the Domino Designer tool.</p><p>Sametime allows users to chat with one another online; to view online presence and availability status; and to view lists of primary, frequent, and recent contacts. The software also maintains a log of time-stamped chat history, delivers rich text formatting and spell checking, and--perhaps the best feature of all--a full library of emoticons and emoticon palettes.</p><p><a href="http://www.itjungle.com/fhs/fhs020414-story10.html">Keep reading...</a></p>
