Major renovations of the 30-year-old jail: $3 million.

Millions more in smaller items. All are among the capital projects the Freeholders are considering as they prepare the 2014 county budget. Various department heads went before the board on Wednesday to present their "wish lists" of capital items for this and coming years.

No decisions were reached at the session; the Finance and Administration Department will compile all the requests and present a report to the Freeholders, Director Matt Holt explained.

The biggest figures, for roads and bridges, came from Tom Mathews, Public Works director.
