
<p>Related:Press Release, NewsDocker,Inc., the commercial entity behind the open source Dockerproject, today announced it has completed a $15M series B fundinground led by Greylock Partners. The funding will be allocated to productdevelopment and acceleration of Docker's rapidly growing ecosystem, aswell as building out the company's commercial product and channels. Alsoparticipating in the round are Insight Venture Partners and existinginvestors Benchmark, Trinity Ventures and Jerry Yang.</p><p>"We are witnessing a fundamental disruption in the data center andapplication infrastructure stack. The next generation of SaaS andenterprise applications are being built for the cloud using process andcontainer based technologies, thereby increasing performance, density,portability and flexibility," said Jerry Chen, partner at Greylock."Docker has emerged as a key player in this exciting transformation, andis rapidly emerging as the standard for containerization."</p><p>Since launching in March 2013, Docker has rapidly grown its ecosystem,receiving over 400,000 downloads, welcoming more than 300 contributorsand gathering over 5,000 published "Dockerized" applications in itspublic index. Companies such as Google, eBay, Yandex, Mailgun,CloudFlare and Baidu have publicly discussedtheir use or support of Docker, and Docker drivers have been acceptedinto the current release of OpenStack. Additionally, the companyrecently entered into a collaborationwith Red Hat focused on bringing next generation Linux containerenhancements to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenShiftplatform-as-a-service.
