
<p>We in the tech industry have our own lexicon and one of the biggies is the word "enterprise," but it's a word so devoid of meaning, it's time to kiss it goodbye.</p><p>In content management of course, we differentiate between web content and business content by calling it "enterprise" content. I've noticed just how meaningless the term is lately. When somebody asks me what I cover, I usually say, "oh enterprise technology," which results in eyes glazing over or brave people asking, "What's the enterprise?"</p><p>It's a term that's been invented by marketers and carried forth by journalists like me (guilty as charged) and it's time to just stop for a number of reasons.</p><p>In our business in particular, enterprise content management is a myth. Nobody actually manages content across the entire company.
