
<p>Alteva reported that its first-quarter unified communications (UC) revenues, net of eliminations were $4 million, up sequentially 15.6 percent, a factor that helped to ease the pain of the 9 percent decline in telephone segment revenue.</p><p>Overall revenues rose 11.8 percent from $6.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2012.</p><p>Although still operating a rural telco business, Alteva has been expanding its focus on the cloud and UC market segment, which contributed about 51 percent of revenues in Q1 2013--up from 46 percent for the same period in 2012 and 49 percent in the fourth quarter 2012.</p><p>The service provider attributes the increase in UC revenues to organically-generated UC services revenue growth and a record level of UC equipment sales.
