<p>If lack of space is keeping you from growing plants, you can still indulge yourself with a miniature garden inside your home. Even a pickle jar can become your garden! All you need is a glass container of any shape and size, preferably with a lid to prevent the moisture from escaping, and sterilized soil. Known to be one of the most attractive ways to exhibit an indoor garden, bottle gardens or terrariums thrive even without attention.</p><p>"Every piece is unique in itself and there is no better way to enjoy life than having plants for your company," says 26-year-old clinical nutrition and dietetics graduate, Nasreen Kamil, whose two-month-old terrarium business she runs with her father is thriving just like her plants.</p><p>Citing convenience and budget-friendliness as the reasons why people opt for terrariums, Nasreen, who loves to garden inside says these are manageable and require less maintenance. "My sister and dad had attended a workshop in Singapore sometime ago and I learnt the art from them," she says.</p><p>The first step in creating a terrarium is choosing the right container. Once that is chosen, Nasreen puts in a layer of pebbles for drainage. Then, with activated charcoal, she adds potting soil, which forms the root of the plant. "The trick is to build them correctly," says Nasreen. "For final touches, each terrarium can have its own identity with miniature accessories.
