<p>Gartner Inc., a Stamford-based information technology and research firm, named IBM Corp. the overall marketshare leader in the application infrastructure and middleware software market.</p><p>The Armonk-based company was the leading software vendor with 30.9 percent marketshare, nearly double that of its closest competitor. The worldwide application infrastructure and middleware software market grew 5 percent to $20 billion, according to Gartner.</p><p>IBM is growing in the initiatives that serve as key underpinnings to its higher value growth initiatives including Smarter Planet, Big Data, Security, Mobility and Cloud.</p><p>The company was named the number one vendor in Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) software with 28.6 percent share; almost triple that of its closest competitor.
