According to a security researcher, several criminal gangs have acquired <a href="http://www.infoworld.com/article/08/10/03/Researcher_finds_evidence_of_massive_Web_site_compromise_1.html?source=rss&url=http://www.infoworld.com/article/08/10/03/Researcher_finds_evidence_of_massive_Web_site_compromise_1.html">administrative log-in credentials for more than 200,000 Web sites</a> and used the compromised domains to attack unsuspecting users' PCs with a notorious hacker exploit kit.

The researcher found over 200,000 unique site credentials on a server, over 80,000 of which had been modified with malicious content to launch attacks against unpatched Windows systems.
