
Viador announced the release of Viador R1/ReportWizard for IBM Mainframes to complement its existing ReportOne Business Intelligence product suite. ReportOne is a new J2EE-based product line that includes the R1/ReportWizard for SQL reporting and the R1/Analyzer for OLAP analysis. R1/ReportWizard provides reporting capabilities directly from any supported Web browser, accessing a variety of relational data sources including IBM DB2.

According to Kaspersky’s Senior Virus Analyst Alexander Gostev, the virus world remains in a state of unrest. With each month showing more and more new malicious programs climbing the ranks, it has become clear that these programs are competing with each other for supremacy. Today, Kaspersky Labs released their Top Twenty virus list for March 2007.

Quantum has introduced StorNext 3.0 data management software. A new report by Webroot Software has found that more than 40 percent of companies surveyed had been hit with malware that disrupted their business.
Webroot’s State of Internet Security report details the cost and legal implications to businesses of malware threats. Using the company’s Phileas automated spyware research system, Webroot researchers discovered that 4.2 million of 250 million URLs around the world harbor malware. Almost 3 million of those malicious sites were discovered in 2006 alone, company officials reported.

RedDot Solutions, the Open Text Web Solutions Group, announced March 21 that it has launched new versions of RedDot CMS 7.5 and RedDot LiveServer 3.5, which include features that enable enterprises to schedule tasks, enhanced search repository and new text editors.

Many Eyes, the data-sharing site from the Visual Communication Lab at IBM, is getting more social.
The Many Eyes Web site, in public alpha since January, enables people to upload data sets from common delineated files, such as an Excel file, then go through a few clicks to make it visual and available to all.
The idea behind the site is that people who have a common interest in certain types of data can come together on the Internet as they do with music, movies and video. The group hopes that it will be a place for researchers to make contact, too.

Extensis announced free plug-ins to provide the advanced font activation and deactivation for Adobe InDesign and Illustrator CS3 documents. The plug-ins ensure that any time users open an InDesign or Illustrator project, the exact fonts are automatically and accurately activated or deactivated.
The free plug-ins will be available for download from the Extensis Web site in the coming months and support Suitcase Fusion, Suitcase for Windows, Suitcase Server and Font Reserve Server. The new plug-ins will require Adobe InDesign and/or Illustrator CS3.

Dell said Thursday an internal financial audit found evidence of misconduct, accounting errors and deficiencies in its financial controls.
Dell, already facing federal and regulatory probes of its accounts and reeling from several disappointing quarters, said its audit committee was working with management and independent auditors to determine whether to restate past results.
