While IBM still dominates the worldwide server market when its comes to revenue, Big Blue’s system shipments fell in the third quarter of 2007 as the company lost ground to Hewlett-Packard and Dell, according to a new Gartner report released Nov. 26.

The report, which looked at third-quarter 2007 server shipments and revenue, found that IBM’s revenue still topped $4 billion, but that number was down about 8 percent compared with the third quarter of 2006. The company’s server shipments also fell about 4 percent during the quarter, while HP and Dell increased both their server shipments and revenue.

Monster.com confirmed this week that it took down a portion of its online job search service after attackers hacked the site and used it to feed exploits to visitors. The company did not, however, explain how the hackers were able to hijack the site.

At the start of this week, researchers began reporting the attacks after detecting IFrame exploits on several Monster.com pages as well as attacks by a multi-exploit hacker tool kit originating from those pages. By Monday evening, the Monster Company Boulevard, a section of the site that lets job hunters research firms and search for positions by company, was dark. Among the major US companies represented on the Boulevard are Boeing, Dow, Microsoft, Starbucks and Wal-Mart.

A survey of 50 key organizations in the UK has found that IT graduate recruitment plans are still forging ahead for 2008. Results of the survey found that:

94% said that the recent turbulence in the banking sector had made no impact on graduate hiring plans within this sector. 56% planned to increase their graduate hiring numbers in 2008 36% planned to hold their graduate hiring numbers in 2008 8% planned to decrease their graduate hiring numbers in 2008
