High Availablity Suite

DataMirror Corporation announced that High Availability Suite will enable AS/400 cluster management with the release of IBM OS/400 V4R4. DataMirror High Availability Suite will provide an intuitive graphical user interface to manage the AS/400 cluster as well as enable levels of data and application resiliency.

Computer Reseller News has this story on QuickPlace from Lotus. QuickPlace is a new collaborative product that has nothing to do with Notes or Domino.

QuickPlace

Internet Week reports that Lotus unveiled QuickPlace at Demo ’99. The stand-alone server, which will be offered initially on Windows NT, will cost $995, plus the standard Lotus Client Access License (CAL) of $40 per user.

Winter snows

Here in central New Jersey, we had another winter snow. This one behaved as all snows should behave: it came during the night and by drive-time in the morning, the roads were clear and the scenery spectacular. A few years ago, Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz wrote an editorial about our winter weather and we’d like to share it with you today.

Motorola Inc. and Starfish Software Inc. introduced the Motorola StarTAC Mobile Organizer, an accessory designed to clip onto the back of Motorola StarTAC cellular phones. Using patented TrueSync technology from Starfish, this clip-on device synchronizes with popular Web-Calendars, desktop organizers and PDAs including Yahoo! Calendar & Address Book, Lotus Organizer, Lotus Notes, ACT!, and Palm III.

Interliant, Inc. announced plans to add Lotus QuickPlace as a hosted, subscription-based service to Interliant AppsOnline. Lotus QuickPlace enables workgroups within and among companies to easily create a common electronic work environment in which to centrally communicate, share and organize information, documents and schedules around any project or initiative.
