<p>There are plenty of predictions for the New Year to keep us busy in January, including the recent report from IDC, "The Future of Enterprise Content Management: Five ECM Trends in 2014."</p><p>Recent technology developments in cloud computing and mobile technology "have upended traditional enterprise content management (ECM) trends and practices," TechTarget notes. "Some industry observers predict that hybrid cloud-based ECM is the future, as some companies want to be able to place some content in the cloud without compromising the security of the 'company jewels."</p><p>The result is five trends that will have an impact on the ECM software market, IDC predicts.</p><p>Hybrid cloud-based ECM is still fairly new, but holds the promise of being the wave of the future.
