
<p>Liferay, a provider of open source enterprise portal and social collaboration software, is launching its biggest update in two years. Announced this week at the Liferay North America Symposium in San Francisco and expected to be available sometime in the fourth quarter, version 6.2 features a new focus on the creation of mobile-enabled websites.</p><p>It has been designed to provide one-click previews of mobile websites and apps by device type, automatically display them correctly on mobile devices and allow administrators to set device type-based rules.Improved Functionality</p><p>The company boasts that its upcoming Software Development Kit will enable the building of device-specific native apps with specific Liferay functionality, such as mobile integration with backend systems.</p><p>Version 6.2 also offers site hierarchies for content management across multiple sites, a new drag-and-drop functionality for uploading files, Application Display Templates for quick customization of apps' interfaces and improved support for multiple languages.
