<p>Email and collaboration provider Zimbra has changed hands a couple of times in the past few years, and on Monday, Telligent acquired Zimbra from VMware</p><p>Email and collaboration provider Zimbra has changed hands a couple of times in the past few years, and on Monday, Telligent acquired Zimbra from VMware for an undisclosed amount.</p><p>The deal comes three years after VMware bought Zimbra from Yahoo in January 2010, acquiring all Zimbra technology and intellectual property. Zimbra will continue to receive investments from VMware and other investors, and VMware will be a strategic partner of the new Zimbra in order to "ensure long-term continuity for customers and partners."</p><p>The plan is for Telligent and Zimbra to merge under the Zimbra brand to form an enterprise software company offering a unified social collaboration suite.
