Another voice from the job market front

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

In the article, "A snapshot of the Lotus Notes hiring landscape," in the June 2001 issue of DominoPower at http://www.dominopower.com/issues/issue200106/contractors0601001.html, Contributing Editor Dan Simmons shared some readers' responses to his inquiries regarding your respective employment opportunities. Here's yet another interesting reply Dan received after completing that article. It paints a slightly rosier picture than some of the others.

Good news

I just read your DominoPower article on my Palm handheld and thought I'd drop you a line. I just came off contract and am looking for work in the Raleigh, NC area. I also have some good news to report. It looks like I am getting an offer from a Fortune 500 company and also have two offers from firms in NJ (though I'd rather not relocate at this time). Anyway, I thought I'd be proactive and see if you know of any contacts in the Raleigh area for Domino gigs. And I am not interested in the job posted (on many job sites) for the State of NC Department of Public Instruction Domino developer position. I just left there (they have some serious project-related problems that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy).

Any information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. And keep up the great work at DominoPower. I love reading that magazine every month. It's so convenient because they subscribe to AvantGo.com, and it synchronizes up with my Palm handheld. Cool stuff. Overall, the market in Raleigh seems to be a bit oversaturated. Too many people want to live here. The market seems a lot stronger in the northeast (not much of a surprise there).

Regards,
Robert
